@Home in Adams County is a community initiative working together to ensure Adams County Pennsylvania is a place where individuals, seniors and families can afford to live well, businesses can thrive, and we preserve the beauty and history of our community!

Why @Home in Adams County came into existence

Adams County Pennsylvania is a beautiful community with rolling hills, rich history, an engaged community. It attracts retirees and is a bedroom community to Harrisburg, northern Maryland and DC. In fact, just under 68% of individuals living in Adams County, who are employed, leave the county for work. Those who work and live here, many of whom are employed in the service, tourism, or agricultural industries, are struggling to afford to continue living here. Seniors who have worked in Adams County their whole life are now being priced out of the housing market. @Home is a coalition of concerned community members, individuals from the business, faith, education and non-profit community, who are committed to looking for effective solutions related to attainable housing, regional transportation options and economic development that supports the cost of living here. We believe that in order for our community to remain a viable and thriving community, people at all levels of employment must be able to afford to live here.

One of the keys to being able to afford to live in a community is the availability of attainable home ownership and rental options. “Attainable” to us, signifies someone working in our community is able to afford to rent or own in our community.

Adams County is a mixture of rural municipalities and more vibrant boroughs. Having effective transportation options is critical to having a thriving community!

In order for a community to remain viable, it must have employment opportunities that support the cost of living. Our Economic Development Working Partner is the Adams Economic Alliance. To learn more about their critical work, please visit their webpage by Clicking Here
